Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
A non-refundable 50% deposit is required at the time of booking a cooking class, cooking party or catered event. You can reschedule up to 72 hours before an event without losing your deposit, as it will be used toward the rescheduled class or party.
Should you need to reschedule within 72 hours of your event, you risk losing your deposit as groceries have likely been purchased and prep for the event is well underway.
We will reach out four days before your event to confirm final details. Final payment is due the day of your class or party.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Of course we do! You can order a gift certificate here.
Alright we’re booked for a class/party! What do I need to do to prepare for it?
All we ask is that you have a clean kitchen or workspace before the start of your class or party! No need to worry about groceries, we will take care of those.
We will check in with you the week before to make sure you have the necessary equipment for the class or party, and if not we will bring what you don’t have.
Do you have classes for vegetarians & vegans?
Yes! Our plant based class All of the Plants is both completely vegan and completely delicious. Additionally, our Taco Tuesday and Hors D’Oeuvres parties can easily be made vegetarian or vegan, just let us know when booking that you’d like to make a modification.
I have a dietary allergy/restriction. Can you make modifications to the class or party menus?
Absolutely! Reach out to us here with more information about your or your guest’s allergy/dietary restriction and which class or party you are interested in booking, and we will work with you to address it. Our menus can easily be modified to meet your needs.
My kitchen is pretty bare. Can you provide any equipment or tools that I don’t have?
That’s what we are here for! We will check in with you a week before your class or party to make sure we bring anything you don’t have.
Our menus don’t rely on anything too crazy. We believe it doesn’t take much to make home cooks successful, but there are definitely certain tools that we love and make our lives as cooks a little easier! We’re happy to consult with you during a lesson about what tools we think you really need. You can also check some of them out on our Favorites page.
Our classes and parties include groceries, instructions, equipment and help with clean up. We have a “clean as you go” mentality, and will help to clean all equipment and utensils that we use while cooking. We will likely say goodbye as you begin eating the delicious meal you’ve cooked!
What all does the price of the cooking class or party include?
Can you provide alcohol for my cooking class, party or catered event?
Unfortunately, no. We will only provide wine that is used in cooking, where any alcohol will be burned off. This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a glass of wine during a class or party though! Our founder is a Level 1 Sommelier and is happy to suggest wine pairings for any of our menus, but we cannot provide any alcohol or purchase on your behalf.
If you’re interested in hiring a bar service for a cooking party, let us know! There are some great local companies that we can put you in touch with.
How many guests can you accommodate in a class or party?
Since our cooking classes are intended to be very hands on and informative, we limit them to four guests.
For our cooking parties, we can accommodate as many guests as you have room for them. Our general rule is 5-16 students, but we can be flexible depending on your space. The parties don’t need to be held in your kitchen, we can also set up work stations in a living room, dining room, or patio depending on your space. Reach out to us here, and we can work with you to determine the ideal number of guests and area in your home for a cooking party.
For catered events, it really depends. Please reach out to us and we can discuss what you are looking for and how we can accommodate!
I live outside of Orange County but would love to host a Gourmet Maisons cooking party. How far do you travel?
We would love to come to you to share our love of cooking! We can travel to San Diego and Los Angeles for classes, parties or catered events, though a travel fee does apply should we need to travel more than 50 miles to your home or event location.
I am hosting an event for more than four people, but would love to have you teach one of your “class” menus as opposed to a “party” menu. Is that a possibility?
It totally depends, so let’s chat - reach out to us here. We want to give you and your guests the best experience possible, and in most cases we can accommodate. However some items on the cooking class menus are more hands on, and may not be feasible with a larger group.
